Bladensburg Police Officer’s Death Ruled Suicide

| April 29, 2013, 10:13 AM | 5 Comments

fatal-accidentThe death of the Bladensburg police officer who was involved in a crash this weekend on Route 100 in Pasadena has been ruled a suicide according to the state’s medical examiner.

Anne Arundel County Police believe the officer shot himself while driving on eastbound Route 100. His marked cruiser then crossed over the median and collided with another vehicle before ultimately crashing into the guardrail.

A State Police helicopter was dispatched but canceled when his injuries were deemed too severe and he was transported to BWMC where he later died.

Brian Johnson was a 9 year veteran of the Bladensburg Police Department as well as a 15 year volunteer with the Bladensburg Fire Department.

    How selfish.

  2. PattiHarris says:

    RIP Officer Johnson

  3. Fire friend says:

Don’t judge if you don’t know. I understand as an outsider it may look that way but if you can’t stay positive you should take a moment and think how your negative would hurt his wife, my dear friend, if she saw this. Something to think about. Everyone is a son/father/brother or something.

  4. 54Girl says:

Sorry, but it was an extremely thoughtless act. Suicide is bad enough, but to be driving on a busy thoroughfare and shoot yourself, knowing what the possible ramifications might be: other people’s lives. He
    does not get a pass.
As former fire fighter and then to go into police work, his whole career was about saving or protecting people.

  5. Police officer Brother says:

54Girl He does not get a pass. But it is not yours to judge. You do not know the total story nor will you ever. Maybe before you post things on a public sit, you should think about the people who will see this. Officer Johnson was a great man. He was a husband and a father to three wonderful children. He has parents and siblings.

He lived his life serving his community and the people in that community are better because of it. Instead of opening your mouth about things that you are clearly not informed on it would be best to stay silent. As with the media you got your facts wrong too. He was not a former fire fighter. He was a fire fighter.

And by the way if you want to post negative comments, at least have the brass to sign your name and not hide in the shadows of a screen name.

    Sincerly
    Andy Johnson
    Brother of Officer Johnson
