Baysox Drop Second Straight

BaysoxThe Bowie Baysox (10-9) scored two in the first, but it wasn’t enough as they fell to the Erie SeaWolves (9-8) 6-4, for their second straight loss on Monday evening.

Xavier Avery led off the game by drawing a walk and then scored on a Buck Britton RBI double.  Then with one out in the first, Henry Urrutia singled to knock in Britton and gave the Baysox a 2-0 lead.

The SeaWolves immediately answered back in the bottom half of the inning with two runs of their own.  With runners at second and third Tyler Collins grounded out to knock in a run.  Then with two outs, Devin Jones threw a wild pitch that allowed the second run of the inning to score and even up the game at 2-2.

In the second inning, the SeaWolves took the lead on an RBI single by Corey Jones that made the score 3-2.

Caleb Joseph tied up the game in the third with his fifth home run of the season.

In the bottom of the third, the SeaWolves took the lead for good.  With one out, Ramon Cabrera tripled and then James Robbins knocked him in to give the SeaWolves a 4-3 lead.

The SeaWolves added two more runs in the fifth inning on an RBI single by Cabrera and an RBI double by Jones to make the score 6-3.

Henry Uruttia hit his first home runs in the eighth inning, but it wasn’t enough as the Baysox fell 6-4.

Warwick Saupold went five innings and allowed three runs on five hits to get the win.

Will Startup pitched the final four innings and allowed just one run to get his third win of the season.

The loss went to Devin Jones who allowed six runs, four earned on nine hits in 4.1 innings.

The Baysox will return home on Friday, April 26th when they begin a three-game series with the Harrisburg Senators.  Both Friday and Saturday night will be fireworks nights.
