2nd Deadly Motorcycle Crash Kills One In Millersville

| April 08, 2013, 09:48 AM | 3 Comments

fatal-accidentOn April 7, 2013, at approximately 9:09 p.m., officers from the Eastern District responded to a serious motorcycle crash on Veterans Highway near Benfield Boulevard in Millersville.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle crashed after striking a raised cement median/barrier on southbound Veterans Highway prior to Benfield Boulevard. The operator, Robert Wells, 55, of Crownsville was transported to Baltimore Washington Medical Center, where he later died from injuries sustained in the crash. The motorcycle’s passenger, Kelly Sutton, 41 of Crownsville, sustained severe injuries from the crash and was transported to Baltimore Shock Trauma in critical condition. Preliminarily, speed and alcohol use appear to be possible contributing factors in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.

Earlier this weekend, a motorcycle struck the rear of a box truck along Route 100.

that first accident was very early in the morning with no mention of why or how.. this one either.. why? how? ..either way, both are tragic, very sad.

My apologies. We were slammed with work and did not get a chance to post the earlier one. It will be on our incident map. But they are not sure of any extenuating circumstances, but apparently the bike was moving at a high rate of speed and made an abrupt lane change and ran into the back of a box truck.
