Contest Raises $6K, For Brain Tumor Survivor, 6. Big hearts and big stomachs raised some big bucks for a local brain tumor survivor and her family, and now the 10-year-old is making miraculous strides toward recovery. The fundraiser helped make The Breakfast Shoppe in Severna Park the WBAL-TV Local Leader for this month.

Police Catch Man In Linthicum Attempted RobberyAnne Arundel County police detectives were in Linthicum when a robbery in progress at a Royal Farm store caught their attention. Police said the detectives were in the 400 block of Camp Meade Road South when they noticed a disturbance inside the Royal Farm Store there around 10:40 p.m. Tuesday.

Ray Rice, Others, Push For Cyberbullying Bill.  Maryland lawmakers were joined Thursday by the mother of a cyberbullying victim and — in spirit — by Ravens running back Ray Rice in their push to pass the Cyberbullying Prevention Act. Introduced by Baltimore County Delegate Jon Cardin, House Bill 396 would prohibit the online posting of “true threats that cause a minor to live in fear of his or her safety” and the posting of false or private information of a minor that, if publicized, would be highly offensive to a reasonable person.  The bill would also prohibit someone from inciting someone else to harm a minor.

State Police To Send Amber Alerts To Cell Phones. Maryland State Police said Amber alerts are now being sent to all cellphones designed to receive wireless emergency alerts. The alerts are used to help find abducted children. State police said they have been instrumental in the safe recovery of 602 children nationwide.
