Authorities Arrest Baltimore Police Cadet In Assault Case. Anne Arundel County police arrested an off-duty cadet with the Baltimore City Police Department on Thursday on domestic assault charges. Zachary Michael Mitchell, 24, was charged with second-degree assault after authorities were called to his Glen Burnie apartment complex around 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
Camera Found In School Bathroom, Officer Suspended. Anne Arundel County police said they are looking into why a police officer installed a camera inside a boys’ bathroom. A Glen Burnie High School student found the small camera in plain view in a top corner of one of the boys’ bathrooms in the media center Wednesday morning, authorities said.
Annapolis Police Credit Tip For Burglary Arrest. An anonymous tipster led Annapolis police detectives to identify and arrest a teen suspect, accused of burglarizing the Boys and Girls Club at Admiral Oaks. Police said Akeem Howard, 18, was arrested on Wednesday and charged in connection with the burglary. Police said a burglary was reported at the club at 417 Captains Circle on Feb. 19 after the discovery that more than $15,000 worth of electronics, including 14 Dell Latitude laptop computers, a 46-inch Samsung flat-screen television and an Xbox Kinect game console, were missing.
Bill Banning Cell Phone Use While Driving Advances. The Maryland House of Delegates has passed a measure to strengthen laws against distracted driving. The House voted 106-29 on Thursday to make talking on a handheld cellphone while driving a primary offense. That means a police officer could pull a driver over, if observed talking on a cell phone. Now, police can only ticket someone for driving while talking on a handheld cellphone if the driver has been pulled over for another offense.
