Police: Broadneck Teacher Sexting With StudentAnne Arundel County police on Tuesday said a Broadneck High School teacher has been charged in connection with having an inappropriate relationship with a student. Police said Erin Nicole Thorne, 28, of Arnold, was charged with one count of displaying obscene matter to minor and one count of child porn solicitation.

Court Considers Liability In Drunk Driving Crashes. For the first time in 32 years, Maryland’s State Court of Appeals is considering whether to make bars and restaurants liable if a customer gets involved in a drunken-driving accident. The polarized issue is igniting passionate and emotional debate on both sides. The issue centers around a case in which a drunken driver, traveling at more than 90 mph, slammed into the back of a Jeep Cherokee and killed 10-year-old Jazimen Warr on Interstate 270 in August 2008.

Prosecutors Not seeking Jail Time For Leopold. Disgraced former Anne Arundel County Executive John Leopold may walk away with no jail time despite being convicted of misconduct in office. WBAL-TV 11 News has confirmed that state prosecutors are recommending Leopold serve a suspended one-year sentence, along with five years of probation and community service.

Changing School Start Times Could Cost Big Bucks. Anne Arundel County completed a study on how early buses should pick up students for school and determined that changing start times at schools would cost lots of money and lead to major change. The county took a closer look at the issue in a 20-page study. In part, it said pushing start times later would mean cutting school activities and adding more buses and staff. The change would cost millions of dollars.
