How Pennsylvania Authorities Tracked Down Lundskow

UpdateUPDATE: The Capital is reporting that Lundskow waived his extradition hearing this morning and, if convicted, faces up to 71 years in jail and $120,000 in fines. His family did not attend this morning’s hearing.

The criminal complaint alleging various solicitation of a minor charges against Capital Gazette Online Editor George “Nick” Lundskow has been obtained by Eye On Annapolis and sheds much more light into the case and how Pennsylvania authorities tracked him down.

The complaint alleges that he admitted to the undercover officer that he inappropriately touched a 13 year old friend of his daughter’s while in a swimming pool.  The complaint also alleges that Lundskow transmitted a photo of him having sex with a white female (age unknown).  We have asked if the Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney is investigating the allegations in the complaint; but have not received a response to our inquiry.

Several of the instant messaging communications occurred during what is typically considered working hours. It is unknown if he was utilizing any computers owned by his employer. Steve Gunn, Editor in Chief for The Capital, told us there would be no comment on personnel matters.

To verify his identity, Pennsylvania authorities were able to obtain the IP address from Yahoo (he communicated on Yahoo Chat). From there, the IP address was identified by Verizon as their subscriber–Lundskow with his address. With that information, his identity (photo from license) make and model vehicle, and current address was verified via a cross check with the Maryland MVA. From this point, Anne Arundel County Police were able to verify that all of the loose ends matched and make the arrest on March 8th.

Lundskow had a bail review this morning and was denied bail and re-committed to the Anne Arundel County Detention Center on Jennifer Road.

The language in the Police Criminal Complaint is very graphic.
