April Showcase Artist Series Features A Unique Performance/Exhibition Event

the other band 1Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts concludes this year’s Showcase Artist Series with a performance of The Other Band as part of an evening called, Music in Art: Art in Music on Wednesday, April 17 at 7:30 pm.  Tickets are $15; $10 Maryland Hall members.  Preceding the performance, patrons are invited to a free gallery reception from 6-7:30 pm to celebrate an exhibition of woodturnings by Joe Dickey, a member of The Other Band, that will be on display in the Balcony Gallery.  The work will remain on display at Maryland Hall through April 30.

The Other Band is a homegrown Annapolis quartet that plays “Music Americana” with a bluegrass drive and tight harmonies. An entertaining mix of well-known traditional and not-so-well-known not-so-traditional American music from the realms of folk, bluegrass, country and old- fashioned popular.  The band has played at a variety of Annapolis-area venues such as 49 West, Quiet Waters Park, First Sunday Arts Festival, Sam and Elsie’s and many private events. The line-up is a stellar group of over achievers; two engineers, a physicist and an entomologist. Engineers are John Shields; vocals and guitar, and Mike Siegert; mandolin and vocals. The physicist is Joe Dickey; banjo and the entomologist is Karl Neidhardt; bass.

Maryland Hall is supported by a grant from the Maryland State Arts Council, an agency funded by the State of Maryland and the National Endowment for the Arts, and a grant from the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County. Additional support comes from sponsors including: COMCAST, Inovalon, Inc., ARINC, Bay Ridge Wine and Spirits, Towne Transport, Verizon, Wells Fargo, Sandy Spring Bank, M&T Bank, Loews Annapolis Hotel, Severn Savings Bank, Corporate Office Properties Trust, The Law Offices of Alexander & Cleaver and BankAnnapolis.
