AAWDC Launches Free Workshops

Masthead_03_goldAnne Arundel Workforce Development Corporation (AAWDC) announces Back-to-Work Month from April 2 – May 3, 2013, designed to help Anne Arundel County residents seeking employment get the skills they need to compete in an environment showing signs of job growth and opportunities.

“There are 60,000 jobs available in the region,” says AAWDC President and CEO Kirkland J. Murray. “Of those, there are 11,000 in Anne Arundel County alone. The month-long programs and events we are providing in the whole month of April will show Anne Arundel County residents looking for their next job how to get the edge they need in a competitive job market.”

Back-to-Work Month is a series of FREE hands-on workshops and opportunities to network directly with employers at locations throughout the County to support people in their job search efforts. Programs and events are offered for all levels of job seekers, including new graduates, 50+ workers, entry-level, mid-career, seasoned professionals and veterans.  Participants will be able to attend programs throughout the entire month of April, covering areas such as resume renovation, interviewing success, security clearance, 50+ rebranding and career assessment.

Businesses representing high-demand industries, such as Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Green Jobs / Construction, Hospitality, Energy and Health Care, will share “What Employers Really Want” and participate in “Speed Recruiting,” a win-win matching program with prescreened applicants.

In a special feature event on April 10, award-winning Economist Dr. Anirban Basu will discuss the state of the economy, the impact on job growth and industry trends.
