A Special Holy Week Cantata Presented At Annapolis Evangelical Lutheran Church

Easter_webThis year there’s an additional reason to look forward to Holy Week.  Annapolis Evangelical Lutheran Church will be offering the cantata, “Journey to the Cross, Remembering Christ’s Sacrifice of Love”.  The cantata features beautiful musical settings by Pepper Choplin, Mark Hayes, Lloyd Larsen and Ruth Elaine Schram.  The majority of the cantata will be offered in worship on Palm Sunday.  Its alternating narration and choral settings will be provided as the sermon of the day. The presentation is directed and accompanied by AELC Music Director, Dr. Jennifer Huang.  Joining Dr. Huang and the choir of Annapolis Evangelical Lutheran Church, are other guest instrumentalists.  The final section of the cantata, Crown Him the Risen King, complete with congregational participation in a special hymn, will be offered as the choir anthem during Easter Sunday worship.

“May God bless our choir, instrumentalists and Director as they prepare to share Journey to the Cross with us during Holy Week”, said Annapolis Lutheran Pastor Gerald Miller.  “Palm Sunday is also when our First Communion Class members will be receiving Holy Communion for the first time. What a beautiful time and service.  Everyone is invited”.

Annapolis Evangelical Lutheran Church worships at the Annapolis Area Christian School, Middle School Campus, 716 Bestgate Road.  Sunday worship is held at 9am.  Wednesday evening Lenten Services as well as Maundy Thursday and Good Friday worship will be held at 7pm in the upper room at the school.  All are invited.
