St. Patrick’s Day Parade A Huge Success

The green was flowing in Annapolis today at 1:00pm as the 1st (in recent memory) St. Patrick’s Day Parade kicked off with more than 50 groups marching down West and Main Streets to City Dock.

Represented were local taverns, Irish Dance schools, civic groups, Crabtown Canines, Dublin 5 (formerly The Rovers) and the Annapolis Irish Festival, and the beneficiary of this charitable effort–Warrior Events.

John O’Leary, president of Warrior Events organized the parade and deemed it a rousing success. “Thank you Annapolis residents, businesses and visitors for supporting a fantastic parade. The troops and other participants had a wonderful time as well. We will see everyone again next year!”

The organization is still waiting for the final bills to come in from the city. O’Leary expects to be a little short of breaking even, but has said that the owners of ACME Bar and Grill have pledged to cover any shortfall!

Initial crowd estimates show that at least 3,000 people lining the streets – who then filled the establishments.

Warrior Events has a simple mission to provide opportunities for interaction, enjoyment, and camaraderie for our warriors, and to raise awareness and appreciation among the public.

They regularly host a tailgate at select Navy Football and lacrosse games which are open to the public. We encourage our readers to check it out and help support this local cause.  The 5th Annual Spring Tailgate for the Troops during the Army Navy Lacrosse game will be held on April 13th at Navy Fest (like usual).

But as to the parade….
