Tanker Truck Burns In Eastport

| February 12, 2013, 04:41 PM | 0 Comments

A large fuel truck caught fire this afternoon in the 7300 block of Edgewood Road in Annapolis. The fire was quickly contained by the Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Fire Departments. Several vehicles belonging to Prestige Yacht Management were also severely damaged.

According to fire department PIO, Dale Thompson, the call came in at 3:24pm as a hazardous materials call. 19 units responded including the hazardous materials units from Annapolis and Anne Arundel County.  There was runoff of the fuel (believed to be gasoline) into Back Creek and fire department crews were erecting dykes and deploying absorbant booms to control the spill. The Maryland Department of the Environment was also responding to handle any environmental concerns.  Video to come.
