Law School 101 At AACC

scales_1Puzzled about how to file a small claim in court? Need help with planning, opening and administering estates? Want to use mediation to avoid court?

Get help understanding your consumer rights in these and other legal situations at the free “Law School for the Public” at Anne Arundel Community College from 8:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Saturday, March 9. Meet in Careers Center Building Room 200; RSVP required to 410-777-7323 because of space limitations.

Presented by the Anne Arundel Bar Association and the Legal Studies Institute at AACC, this popular annual event features local attorneys and judges discussing civil, criminal and family legal issues. Registration is from 8:30 to 9 a.m. From 9 to 9:15 a.m. is the welcome and kickoff session, “Do I Need a Lawyer?”

Two sessions follow the welcome. Session 1 is from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. and features these topics:

  • Will Power: A Guide to Planning, Opening and Administering Estates
  • Small Claims: How Maryland Law Helps the Little Guy
  • Hard Times: Debts, Collection Laws and Bankruptcy

Session 2 is from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and features:
