Crofton Bank Robber Finally Caught In Annapolis

robberyOn February 6, 2013, around 11:12 a.m., Western District officers responded to the PNC Bank located in the 1100 block of Route 3 North in Crofton for an armed robbery in progress.

Officers learned that a female suspect approached the teller and demanded money after implying she was armed with a handgun. Several officers from multiple jurisdictions helped search the area for the suspect. Around 11:24 a.m., a Crofton officer and a Prince George’s County officer located the suspect parked on the lot of the Sacred Heart Church at 16501 Annapolis Road in Bowie. The suspect refused to exit her vehicle and officers followed the vehicle from Bowie along Route 450 towards Annapolis.

At the intersection of Crownsville Road and Route 450, Anne Arundel County officers safely deployed stop sticks and disabled the suspect’s vehicle. The vehicle eventually came to a safe stop on the right shoulder of Route 50 West just on the ramp leading to I-97 North at approximately 11:40 a.m. The suspect attempted to flee on foot but was immediately apprehended by officers with assistance from a K-9 unit. The suspect sustained a minor bite from the K-9 and was transported to the hospital for treatment. No one else was injured during the incident.
