Brooklyn Park Fire Sends Two To Hospital

UPDATE: From the Anne Arundel County Fire Department:

At 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 24, 2013, Anne Arundel County Firefighters were dispatched to a reported dwelling fire in the 500 block of Wood Street in the Arundel Gardens area of the County. The first unit to arrive on the scene reported smoke and fire evident on the second floor of a two-story, middle of the group rowhome. Additionally, two victims were found in the front yard of the home suffering from smoke inhalation and burns.

The victims, a 45 year-old male neighbor who was transported by ambulance to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center with serious, non-life threatening injuries and a 51 year-old male, identified as the homeowner, was transported by ambulance to the Bayview Burn Center in Baltimore with life threatening injuries.

Firefighters report that the injuries suffered by the 45 year-old were as a result of the successful rescue of the homeowner prior to the arrival of the first due companies.

27 Firefighters were able to bring this 1 alarm incident under control at 7:40 p.m. Investigators determined that the home was equipped with working smoke alarms. The estimated total damages are $11,000. The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Anne Arundel County Fire crews responded to 501 Wood Street for a structure fire just afte 7 pm tonight. Arriving units reported two patients outside the house with visible fire inside.

A 61-year-old man was taken to Johns Hopkins Bayview Burn Center with serious burn injuries. A second person was transported to Shock Trauma with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
