AAACCVB Nationally Recognized As Sports Leader

visitannapolisorgThe Annapolis & Anne Arundel County Conference and Visitors Bureau’s (AAACCVB) has received national recognition for providing exceptional service to sporting events organizers.

SportsEvents Media Group, the leading industry publication focused exclusively on helping sports event planners produce quality competitions in the United States and Canada, has announced that the AAACCVB is a member of its 2013 class of Readers’ Choice Award winners.

AAACCVB President and CEO Connie Del Signore says she’s pleased that so many sporting events organizers from across the country have given the destination a thumbs up for a job well done. “It takes a solid team to deliver a successful sporting event. Our team consists of representatives from the AAACCVB, county and city Recreation and Parks, the Maryland Office of Sports Marketing, and the U.S. Naval Academy Athletic Association. Add to that our ever-growing inventory of well-maintained, centrally located fields and facilities, and you have a combination that’s hard to beat.”

Del Signore says one example of how teamwork has paid off is a multi-year contract that AAACCVB Vice President of Sales Jo Ellyn McNees and AAACCVB Senior Sports Manager Kate Roth have secured with USA-BMX. The organization will be bringing its East Coast Nationals to the Chesapeake BMX facility June 14-16, 2013.

For the Readers’ Choice Awards, sports event professionals were asked to name the sports commissions, convention and visitors bureaus, or sports events venues they believe display exemplary creativity and professionalism toward the groups they host. Readers submitted nominations throughout the year, and the top picks emerged from the results of an online voting system.

According to SportsEvents editor Kristen McIntosh, “These award winners have proven they are willing to go above and beyond the normal service levels expected by providing both the physical attributes and commitment to hospitality and service that today’s discriminating sports event planners demand.”

Among the sporting venues Annapolis and the Chesapeake Bay has to offer are: eleven turf fields, 114 softball/baseball fields, a state-of-the-art BMX facility, and the Maryland Sportsplex, featuring two futsal courts, four volleyball courts, and an indoor turf field. The destination’s 10,000-seat Capital Raceway appeals to the drag racing crowd, and the Bachman Sports Complex boasts six lighted fields that are ideal for baseball and softball. Its two additional multipurpose fields can accommodate an even broader mix of sporting events.
