Two More Businesses Close In Annapolis

out of business

Eye On Annapolis has learned of two more local Annapolis businesses which have closed or will be closing their doors in the coming weeks.

Parthenon Restaurant

The Parthenon Restaurant on Bay Ridge Road has closed for the second time. The popular Greek restaurant and bar closed once before when the owner passed away. It was re-opened by relatives and has subsequently closed again.  We have heard that a new Mexican restaurant will be taking its place–Calliente, but were unable to confirm that with the owners or the landlord.

Mary & Blanche

Mary & Blanche (188 Main Street) is also closing their doors on January 31st. The store that defies description was originally located at 78 Maryland Avenue and moved to Main Street several years ago in an effort to increase traffic and business.

In an email sent to their customers this morning:

It’s with intense mixed feelings that we say we are closing.

We did not make this decision lightly, but recent events and family matters have made us realize we need to shift priorities.

So, Mary & Blanche! will be closing January 31, 2013.

We will be having a “Sad but true Sale” starting NOW. All merchandise is marked to move. All our lovely fixtures and display cases are also for sale. Make an offer.

Please come in and show us some love. Remember to shop locally.

Over the past few months, Annapolis has seen many businesses close their doors and we are hearing that there may be a few more before too long. The most recent closings include Stevens Hardware, Crown & Anchor Pub, Liz Lind Editions, Madison Boutique, and Shades Unlimited.
