2 Women Rob Beauty Store In Glen Burnie.  Police said two women robbed a beauty shop in Glen Burnie. Anne Arundel County police officers were called to the Sally’s Beauty Supply Shop in the 7900 block of Crain Highway around 1 p.m. Monday. Police said a woman passed a note to the store clerk implying she had a handgun and demanded money. Authorities said the woman stole an undisclosed amount of cash from the register before fleeing the business and fleeing in a dark-colored Chevrolet that was driven by another woman.

Legislators Gather In Annapolis To Set Agenda. On the eve of a new General Assembly session, the legislative to-do list is already long as legislators take a fresh look at old and divisive issues. The agenda includes gun control measures and possibly a new revenue source for transportation, 11 News reporter David Collins said.  On Tuesday, there was an edgy celebrity factor on display at the annual Democratic unity luncheon. Powerful members of U.S. House and Senate topped the A-list of guests.

Educators Discuss College Retention Concerns. Maryland is one of the most educated states in the nation, but it’s not exempt from dealing with a growing concern: helping college students get their degrees. It’s taking students a lot longer to finish college — five years or more, and in some cases, they still fail to graduate. The state’s higher education commission spent Tuesday having a critical conversation about this issue, bringing experts, college presidents from across the state and the governor to the campus of Morgan State University to search for answers.

Howard County Schools Talk Safety With Parents And Teachers. Leaders in Howard County are taking immediate steps to reinforce school safety plans in the wake of several mass shootings across the U.S. in recent years. Hundreds of Howard County parents met with educators, police and health officials who are part of a task force on Tuesday night. The county police chief and schools superintendent fielded ideas and questions from parents and teachers about what the county is currently doing well to protect kids and what needs to change in light of how the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting played out.
