Motorists Advised Of Afternoon Delays In Anne ArundelAnne Arundel County police want to advise motorists of upcoming major traffic delays.  Officials said from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, delays will impact Fort Smallwood Road (Route 173), Interstate 695 westbound and on Governor Ritchie Highway (Route 2) northbound. The traffic delays will be related to a large funeral service being held for retired Anne Arundel County firefighter David E. Fowler.

2 Men Arrested In Annapolis RobberyAnne Arundel County police said they arrested two men in connection with a robbery of a business in Annapolis, and believe one of the men may be connected to another robbery that happened a couple days earlier. Officers were called to Alexander’s Spa in the 2300 block of Forest Drive around 2:36 p.m. Monday for reports of a robbery. A robber came into the business and demanded money from employees, who complied and turned over an undisclosed amount of money to the man.

Maryland’s Flu Season Worst Since 2009. According to data from both the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, the 2012 flu season is shaping up to be the worst since the swine flu outbreak in 2009. It places Maryland in the widespread category. “The flu epidemic started first week of December,” Dr. Cynthia Buchman-Webb, ER chief, Union Memorial Hospital.

5 Teens Injured In Ellicott City Crash. Five teens were injured in a crash in Howard County. Howard County police were on the scene of a crash in front of Mt. Hebron High School in the 9400 block of Route 99 involving five teens Thursday afternoon. Officials said all the teens are students from Ellicott City. Police believe the car the students were riding in, a Honda Civic, pulled out from the school parking lot around 2:20 p.m. and was struck by a very large Mack truck.
