Anne Arundel County Seeks To Vacate Leopold’s Seat. The Anne Arundel County Council called an emergency meeting just one day after County Executive John Leopold was found guilty of misconduct in office. Late Wednesday afternoon, the council introduced a resolution that, if approved by a supermajority vote, would vacate the office of county executive, which would force John Leopold out of office and begin the process of appointing his replacement.

Severn Man Arrested After Attempted Robbery. Anne Arundel County police said they arrested a Severn man in connection with an attempted armed robbery. Officers were called to Arundel Mills Mall at 7000 Arundel Mills Circle around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday for  a report of a robbery. An 18-year-old and a 19-year-old man told police they were getting into their parked car in front of Neiman Marcus when a man got in the backseat of the car, displayed a possible handgun and ordered them not to move.

Police: Robber Pistol Whips Woman In Glen Burnie. Anne Arundel County police said they are looking for a man who pistol whipped and robbed a woman in Glen Burnie. Officers were called to the 7900 block of Nolpark Court around 7 a.m. Tuesday after a woman was robbed. A 57-year-old woman told police she was approached by a man as she was getting into her car when he put an object up against her back and demanded all of her money. The victim complied by handing over an undisclosed amount of cash to the man, who was armed with a possible firearm, police said.

7, Including 4 Firefighters, Injured In 495 Crash. Fire officials in Prince George’s County said seven people were injured, including four firefighters, after a three-vehicle crash on the Capital Beltway early Wednesday morning. Authorities said a fire truck was traveling along the Inner Loop of Interstate 495 near Route 50 around 3 a.m. when a tractor-trailer rear-ended it, sending both rigs into the concrete barrier separating the Inner Loop from the Outer Loop and causing them to overturn on the Outer Loop.
