Super Bowl Baltimore. The Baltimore Ravens beat the New England Patriots 28-13 in the AFC Championship Game to return to the Super Bowl. Tom Brady’s pass deflected high into the air before floating gently downfield and into the arms of Baltimore linebacker Dannell Ellerbe. The ball — and the rematch — went to the Ravens. A year after the New England Patriots took advantage of a dropped touchdown and a missed Baltimore field goal to advance to their fifth Super Bowl in 11 seasons, the Ravens held on for a 28-13 victory on Sunday in the AFC championship game.

Anne Arundel Officer Faces Animal Cruelty Charges.  Anne Arundel County police are investigating an officer with their department in connection with an animal cruelty case in Lothian. Police said Anne Arundel County Animal Control received a call from a citizen in the 800 block of Bayard Road in Lothian regarding a large stray dog.

Leopold Prosecutor: Employees Feared Losing Job.  Dramatic testimony started the trial Friday of Anne Arundel County Executive John Leopold, who is accused of using police officers to do campaign and personal tasks. Attorneys made their opening statements Friday and witnesses began testifying.

Skier Killed At Wisp Ski Resort.  The Garrett County Sheriff’s Office said a skier was killed in an accident at the Wisp ski resort. The sheriff said James Jung-Jin Park, 40, of Rockville, lost control and ran into trees while skiing Saturday morning with two friends. Authorities said the Rockville man was pronounced dead at Garrett County Memorial Hospital. The sheriff’s office said the accident occurred on a ski-run known as the Squirrel Cage.
