Man Strangles Great Aunt To Death In Glen Burnie

Crime SceneOn Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at approximately 1145am, officers from the Anne Arundel County Police Department’s Northern District responded to 338 Gatewater Court, Glen Burnie, Anne Arundel County, Maryland in response to a report of an attended death.

Upon arrival, officers found a deceased female subject, later identified as Dianna Lee Fitzwater.  The officers spoke with a witness who is the reporting person.  The witness advised that at approximately 1130am, she and Brandon Zachary Duncan, awoke and went out to the living room and found the victim unresponsive.  The reporting person attempted to wake the victim, but the victim did not respond. At that time 911 was called.

Based upon the investigation, Dianna Fitzwater, 62, was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office for the State of Maryland so that a Post Mortem Examination could be performed.

On Wednesday, January 30, 2013, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office for the State of Maryland ruled the cause of Dianna Lee Fitzwater’s death as asphyxiation and the manner of death as homicide.

On Wednesday, January 30, 2013, investigators conducted an interview with Brandon Zachary Duncan.  At that time he admitted to strangling the victim.

Based upon the aforementioned investigation a warrant was obtained for Brandon Zachary Duncan charging him with First Degree Murder.  Investigation has also revealed that Brandon Zachary Duncan is the grand nephew of the victim.  Brandon Duncan is currently under guard at a local area hospital for unrelated issues.
