Annapolis Lights City Christmas Tree

Hundreds began to gather around City Dock late this afternoon to join in the festivities surrounding the lighting of the City’s Christmas tree. Zachary’s Jewelers led off the celebration with partial performances of The Nutcracker ballet performed by the Chesapeake Ballet in front of their store.  Local choral groups from the area performed plenty of holiday songs while the Annapolis Jaycees doled out free hot chocolate to the chilled crowd.

Wiley Baker, of WNAV radio, served as emcee for the evening coaxing Mayor Josh Cohen up onto the stage for the big countdown to turn on the lights. After the tree was lit, Santa and Mrs. Claus arrived at City dock. In years past, they have arrived by boat, and on a horse drawn carriage. However, this year they arrived on a Circulator Trolley with a police escort!  Santa spoke to the crowd and reminded the children that they better get their lists to him soon since Christmas was only a month away!
