2nd Annual Legos Tournament Coming To AACC

See teamwork, principles of science, technology and quick thinking in action at the Second Annual Battle by the Bay FIRST® LEGO® League robot tournament on Saturday, Dec. 8, in the Center for Applied Learning and Technology at Anne Arundel Community College, 101 College Parkway.

Hosted by AACC’s Engineering department, the opening ceremony begins at 12:45 p.m., with the robot games running from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. and the awards ceremony at 4 p.m. At least 13 of the 16 teams competing are from local schools or youth groups, including four from Annapolis, three from Severna Park, two from Millersville, and one team each from Pasadena, Glen Burnie, Bowie and Odenton.

FIRST® LEGO® League is a worldwide robotics program aimed at letting youth experience firsthand ways that using science and technology can be fun. Teams of students ages 9 to 16 build and program robots to perform specified feats and complete the project related to the competition theme. This year’s theme is Senior Solutions. Top performing teams will qualify for the Maryland state tournament, which meets in January.
