Registration Open For Inaugural Dodge 4 T1D

Dodge 4 T1D Registration is open for the first Annual “Dodge 4 T1D”, a community dodgeball tournament that will benefit the Maryland Chapter of JDRF—the largest non profit organization in the world devoted to type 1 diabetes research and support.    To register, visit www.dodgeball.theshorelife.net.

The tournament will take place on Saturday, November 10th at the Pip Moyer Recreation Center in Annapolis.  Youth and adult teams of six will compete in a series of round robin tournaments starting in the morning. The teams with the best 3 out of 5 games in each category will win the tournament.  Team categories include: Grades 3-5, Grades 6-8, Grades 9-12, Adults.  The tournament will also feature “Corporate Smack Downs”—friendly competitions between area businesses, and a “Mascot Smack Down”—competitions between area food and sporting mascots from Chick-Fil-A, Buffalo Wild Wings, Menchies, Bowie Baysox, Chesapeake Bayhawks,  and DC United. Various prizes will be awarded, including one for best team spirit and one for the team that is the highest fundraiser.  Food and drinks will be available from Chick-Fil-A and Moveable Mixtures, and there will be a post-tournament party at Cadillac Ranch.

“Dodge 4 T1D” was started by Annapolis resident, Jennie Grimm, as a creative, fun way to raise funds to fight type 1 diabetes and to help educate people about what it’s like to live with diabetes.  Grimm’s nine-year old son, Jack, was diagnosed with T1D two years ago.  “Our lives changed forever that day.  Diabetes is a tough disease to live with, especially for children.  It’s something we have to think about every minute of every day.  Jack uses an insulin pump to help regulate his blood sugar, but there still isn’t a cure for diabetes or its future complications, “ Grimm said.  “Whether you have a connection to diabetes or not, I hope people will come out to “Dodge 4 T1D”, have fun, compete, and help raise money to fight this disease.”

Current sponsors include:  Menchies, Shore Life, Annapolis Lifestyle, Annapolis VIP, and Chick-Fil-A.  There are a variety of sponsorship opportunities available.  For more information on sponsorship levels and benefits, visit www.dodgeball.theshorelife.net.
