On Saturday, October 13, 2012, officers with the Annapolis Police Department volunteered their time to serve customers at Red Robin Gourmet Burgers in the Annapolis Mall.  The event is known as Tip-A-Cop.  Officers and Special Olympians worked side by side with the staff by serving drinks and bussing tables from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.  Customers met a Special Olympian and were encouraged to leave a special tip for the Special Olympics.

Annapolis officers, special police officers from Anne Arundel Community College Department of Public Safety, and Special Olympics athletes worked together to raise $4,325 to benefit Special Olympics Maryland.  This is the third year Annapolis Police Department has participated in the Tip-A-Cop event.

The participating agencies, Special Olympics, and Red Robin would like to thank all the customers that opened their wallets and donated money.  The money raised goes directly to local Special Olympics programs.
