Carl O. Snowden, Chairman of the Housing Authority of the City of Annapolis (HACA), Board of Commissioners, and Vincent O. Leggett, it’s executive director announced that Mr. Anderson’s film credits includes Infernal Affairs, Transformers, Big Momma’s House, and Barbershop to name just a few.  Mr. Anderson joined an all star cast that included Matt Damon, Leonardo DiCaprio and Jack Nicholson in the movie The Departed, a 2006 roll that propelled Mr. Anderson’s career.  Born on August 15, 1970 in Los Angeles, California, Mr. Anderson earned his Bachelor’s degree in Theater from Howard University in Washington, D.C.

“We anticipate an audience of over 500 people” said Mr. Leggett. Two years ago the HACA Board of Commissioners passed a resolution, which established an annual conference designed to assist residents with both educational and job opportunities. Since the program’s inception, HACA has partnered with a number of community based agencies and organizations to insure that its residents have accesses to these and many other essential services.

This year’s conference partners include:  The Mayor’s Office and the City of Annapolis, Annapolis Community Foundation, Anne Arundel Health Systems (Anne Arundel Medical Center), Anne Arundel County Public Schools, Anne Arundel County Partnership for Children, Youth & Families, Comcast, Sojourner Douglas College and Anne Arundel Community College.

In addition to Mr. Anderson, others addressing the HACA Conference include Luncheon keynote speaker Kevin E. Hooks V.P. of Urban Marketing Weber Shandwick, “Health Rocks” 4H, Darius Stanton Youth Motivational speaker, Carol Payne Field Director of the Baltimore Office of the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), County Councilman Chris Traumbauer, Annapolis Mayor  Joshua Cohen, Alderwoman Classie G. Hoyle, Alderwoman Shelia Finlayson, Alderman Matthew Silverman, Alderman Kenny Kirby, and Alderman Ross Arnett, III,  and Anne Arundel County School Board President Andrew Pruski.

“We have seen tremendous progress in the last two years. HACA has been removed from HUD’s troubled agency list, our occupancy rate is 98%, and we have received several ROSS (Resident Opportunity and Self-Sufficiency) grants that will permit us to better serve our housing residents in their quest to increase earned income and move toward economic and housing self-sufficiency”, said. Mr. Leggett.  “On behalf of the HACA Board of Commissioners, I want to extend our appreciation to Mr. Leggett and his staff and the City of Annapolis, who have worked tirelessly to make sure that this conference is a success”, said Mr. Snowden.
