Fish For A Cure

fishThe AKI Foundation, a non-profit group in Annapolis MD will hold their 5th annual fishing tournament Fish For A Cure on Saturday, November 3rd   2012 in the Downtown Annapolis area.

What began as a recreational tournament fueled by a group of friends’ love for fishing has taken on a life of its own, inspiring our community to take a stand against cancer. Since Fish For A Cure held its first charitable event in 2008, it has experienced significant, multi-dimensional growth, donating $150,000 to the Geaton and JoAnn DeCesaris Cancer Institute at the Anne Arundel Medical Center in 2011. In 2012, F4AC is looking to go above and beyond and has made a $1 million pledge to the Cancer Institute.

The 2012 Fish For A Cure tournament will attract up to 50 boats and around 400 post-tournament party goers. Further demonstrating local enthusiasm for the cause, several key sponsors have already come on board including local businesses: General & Mechanical Services, Quality Associates Incorporated and RBC Wealth Management.

“As we approach the tournament date, we are continuing to build momentum,” said Greg Lilly, Chairman of the Board of Directors. “We have already registered a number of boats and know that the party will be a huge draw for the non-anglers with its new location at the Marriott Waterfront Annapolis and entertainment from popular, local musician Dan Haas. Although Fish For A Cure continues to grow, we know our success isn’t possible without the dedicated members, sponsors, volunteers and donors who get involved every year. I’d like to encourage everyone to strive to make this year better than the last.”
