Boating Accident Injures State Delegate And Six Others. Seven people, including four children and a state delegate, were hurt in a boating accident in Anne Arundel County on Wednesday night. A legislative aide for State Delegate Don Dwyer said the lawmaker was aboard one of the boats involved in the crash. Just after 7 p.m., rescue crews with the Anne Arundel County Fire Department were called to Sillery Bay, an estuary of the Magothy River just west of Gibson Island, where they found two boats that had collided.

Police Charge Pasadena Man In Father’s DeathAnne Arundel County police said they have charged a man with his father’s murder. Based on witness interviews, ballistic evidence, and numerous search and seizure warrants, homicide detectives said they obtained a warrant on Tuesday charging Darius Keenan Jr. with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and theft/credit card.

MD High Court Changes Pit Bull Ruling.  The Maryland Court of Appeals made a back-step Tuesday, saying it went too far in including mixed-breed pit bulls in its ruling declaring the dogs are inherently dangerous. While some see it as a victory, others said the change sparks more questions than answers. The reversal by Maryland’s highest court should make getting pit bull mixes adopted from area animal shelters a little easier, but some animal welfare experts said they aren’t so sure.

Crews Clear Train Debris, Look For Cause. National transportation officials said they’re working as fast as they can to clear debris and find out what caused an 80-car CSX freight train to derail in historic Ellicott City on Tuesday night, killing two 19-year-old college students.  The National Transportation and Safety Board said Wednesday that it expects the cleanup and investigation to last another day or two, meaning roads into downtown Ellicott City will likely still be closed until then.
