Feed Annapolis 5-Miler Scheduled For August 18th

| August 13, 2012, 04:03 PM | 0 Comments

Revolution Annapolis is hosting Annapolis’s first annual Feed Annapolis 5-Miler, a fun, five-mile road and trail race throughout the downtown Annapolis area that will start and end at  Bates Middle School.

Our purpose for doing this race goes far beyond raising money for a cause. Recently, we have  discovered that in Annapolis, there is an enormous need for children to have food right in our  backyard. In places we walk by each and every day, children are going hungry. Bates
Middle School, one of the two middle schools in the Annapolis city region, has 650 students that  attend classes. Of those 650, HALF are on the free and reduced lunch program; many of those  on this program go without food at home.

We MUST take care of our children in Annapolis, it’s NOT OK for children in our city to go  hungry. So, where do we go from here? Revolution Annapolis has teamed up with  Generosity Feeds [generosityfeeds.org] – a non-profit organization that helps people put on events to push tens-of-thousands of meals into communities to feed children who live  with food insecurity. With their help,  the “Feed Annapolis” Project was born. On Saturday,  August 18th – not only will there be the 5-mile road race to raise money for the Feed Annapolis Project, but there will also be an  opportunity to pack meals at the finish line for Annapolis community children.
