YWCA Wins Charity Raffle At DIVA DAYS Women’s Expo

On June 23rd As Kindred Spirits and other Annapolis Towne Centre merchants, local women owned business organizations and four charities took part in the first DIVA DAYS Women’s Expo. 32 vendor tables and many varied workshops hosted by the Chop House & Desi Furniture raised money for the charity chosen by raffle. The Alzheimer’s Association, The Wellness House, The Women’s Institute of AACC, as well as the YWCA of Annapolis were competing.

“Everyone had their favorite charity and this seemed the most fair way to choose” said Janet Roessler of As Kindred Spirits, one of the primary organizers of the event. Janet Roessler & Chitra Gunderson of As Kindred Spirits, Lori Holmbeck of Origins, Lisa Stearns of “Finding Your Voice,” Shawn Whitehead of “AboutChange Coaching,” and Hyacinth Tucker of “Signature Blue Events” were the organizers of this first  ever Annapolis Women’s Expo.

On June 29th, the check was presented to Barbara Palmer of the YWCA of Annapolis & AACO, for the proceeds of the event by the ladies from As Kindred Spirits. “Wow!  We are so excited and thanks for your support of the Y,” said Ms Palmer upon notification of their win.

“We raised $971 for this very worthy charity. I was shocked when I was told they maintain the only battered women’s shelter in the county. We were very happy they won,” said Janet Roessler. Barbara Palmer mentioned that this money will be going towards bathroom rennovations badly needed at the shelter.

All the women attending also had a chance to make new connections and have some fun at the same time.
