‘Centro-Nation’ Excited For London Games.  A star runner from Anne Arundel County will make his Olympic debut next month — and his mother can’t wait. Matthew Centrowitz, 22, will be compete in the 1500-m track and field event on Aug. 3 with his parents cheering him on from the stands. Signs that read “Centro-nation” have popped up across the Centrowitz’s neighborhood in Arnold as a community is ready to cheer a hometown star in a big way.

Would Be Craigslist Transaction Turns Into Robbery. Police are sending the public a warning after a would-be Craigslist transaction turned into a robbery. Officers were called to the 500 block of Nolview Court in Glen Burnie for a report of a citizen robbery at about 12:51 a.m. July 15. Police said the 39-year-old man was in the area to buy an iPhone being sold off Craigslist. The victim said he arrived in the area and waited for the seller to arrive.

Annapolis Tree Worker Injured In 20-Foot Fall.  A tree company worker sustained several injuries when he fell 20 feet from a ladder. It happened in the 600 block of Gennessee Street in Annapolis at 9:41 a.m. Friday. Annapolis City Fire Department said the man was flown to Prince George’s County Trauma Center with multiple internal injuries. The man’s identity and condition were not yet available.

Woman Robbed At Laurel Wendy’s.  Anne Arundel County police said four men robbed a woman in the parking lot of a Wendy’s restaurant in Laurel. The robbery happened in the 3500 block of Russett Green East at 2:41 a.m. Friday. A 22-year-old woman told police four men approached her as she left the restaurant and attempted to enter her vehicle. One of the men struck the victim in the face, causing her to fall to the ground.
