Anne Arundel Officials Determine Cause Of 2-Alarm Fire.  Authorities said they know the cause of a two-alarm fire that displaced six people in Hanover. Anne Arundel County fire officials said the fire was caused by wood finishing products placed in a recycle bin. Officials said they want to remind residents to read and follow disposal instructions on the labels of household products.

Anne Arundel Schools To Get new Grading Policy. Anne Arundel County students and parents can expect changes to the district’s grading regulation. The teachers union called it “new and improved.” The changes will not actually affect a students’ letter grade, but it will help to put teachers and schools on the same page and make clear how they go about assigning grades.

O’Malley Praises Court Ruling On Healthcare. Gov. Martin O’Malley and Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown said Thursday the Supreme Court’s ruling to uphold nearly all of President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul gives considerable momentum to reform efforts in Maryland.

Plebes Start Naval Academy Career. Thursday was a big day in Annapolis as nearly 1,200 young men and women from around the country entered the U.S. Naval Academy. Induction Day is the start of plebe summer when freshman get a crash course in what it means to be in the military. They get their reef points explaining the mission of the military, as well as their medical evaluations and the much-anticipated buzz cut that’s required for men.
