Fire Ignites In Bedroom, Spreads To Hallway. A neighbor spotted smoke from a fire that ignited in a bedroom of an Anne Arundel County house Saturday. Fire officials said the fire ultimately spread to a hallway at a house in the 300 block of Charred Oak Court shortly after 7 a.m. A neighbor saw smoke emanating from the house and called 911.

Man Dies In Annapolis Shooting. Authorities are investigating a shooting that left a man dead in Annapolis early Saturday morning.  Annapolis police said they received a call at about 1:16 a.m., reporting that multiple shots were fired in the 1100 block of Madison Street. Police said responding officers found Orlando Sherman McDaniel, 29, suffering from a gunshot wound.

Gunman Sought After Trying To Rob Elderly Man. Police are looking for a gunman who tried to rob a 78-year-old man in an Anne Arundel County parking lot Friday morning. Anne Arundel County police said officers arrived at the Lowe’s store parking lot in the 6600 block of Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie shortly after 5 a.m. to find a 78-year-old man who said he was sitting in his car when another man approached him and demanded money.

Buoys Tell When Jellyfish Are Likely. If you like to swim in the Chesapeake Bay, but don’t like being stung by jellyfish, a new high-tech bay buoy system can help. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said the Chesapeake Bay Interpretive Buoy System can tell when conditions are right for jellyfish, also known as sea nettles. NOAA said sea nettles are found from Cape Cod to the Caribbean but abound in the Chesapeake.
