Police Arrest Man For Assault With Nail Gun

| June 05, 2012, 09:07 AM | 0 Comments

UPDATE: Here is the story on South River Source with photos of the scene.

Yesterday, a 34 year old man was flown to Shock-Trauma with life threatening injuries after receiving wounds from a nail gun on a construction site in Edgewater. The victim suffered wounds to his chest and hands. Yesterday, police deemed the incident to be an assault and not an accident.  From this morning’s police report:

On June 4, 2012, at approximately 11:28 a.m., officers from the Southern District responded to the 4200 block of Sweet Leaf Lane for a report of an industrial accident.

Upon arrival, officers located a 34-year-old male victim from Laurel, Maryland, suffering from injuries to the upper body sustained from a nail shot from a nail gun while framing a house. Fire personnel arrived on scene and transported the victim via helicopter to Shock Trauma in Baltimore with possible life threatening injuries. Initial information received indicated that the incident was possibly an accident, but further investigation consisting of several interviews revealed that the victim was involved in a dispute with another member of the crew working on the home. At a certain juncture, the co-worker shot the victim with a nail gun. The suspect was later taken into custody and charged with First Degree Assault, Second Degree Assault and Reckless Endangerment.

Suspect: Guillermo L. Lopez-Molina, 41, of 8308 14th Avenue #2, Hyattsville, Md

The South River Source was on the scene yesterday and will have more details shortly.
