I-97 Head On Crash Kills One

A car traveling the wrong way on northbound I-97 has killed one person and left another in shock trauma with life threatening injuries.

The accident was reported just before 2am in the northbound lanes of I-97 just before the Benfield Road exit in Millersville. From initial reports, a vehicle was traveling south in the north bond lanes and hit another vehicle head on. The driver of the wrong-way vehicle was ejected and ultimately pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. The other driver was trapped and needed to be extricated prior to being flown to shock-trauma with life threatening conditions.

I-97 was shut down in both directions, but is open now. The preliminary police report is not yet available and this story will be updated once it becomes available with more details.
