Crown & Anchor To Open On City Dock

| June 04, 2012, 12:20 PM | 0 Comments

The Crown & Anchor Pub will be opening shortly in the Dock Street location of the former Hell Point seafood restaurant, next to the future Sailing Hall Of Fame.

The food emphasis will be on quality but reasonably priced fare, incorporating traditional British & American food enhanced by a Chesapeake style seafood menu–relax WW II veterans, there will be no spam fritters!

The prevailing atmosphere of the pub will feature a colonial, sailing, US and Royal Navy emphasis.

The Crown & Anchor is a family owned business including six sons and one daughter. Ben, the oldest, runs his own pub in the UK, Alice the youngest, is studying fine art at Reading University. Jon and Lesley Marsden are the principals.

Five of the sons are serving in the UK military, three of the boys are Officers (called “Ruperts” by the enlisted men!), one son is an engineer ECM specialist and the youngest has enlisted into a trainee aircraft engineer program.

Jon, (Dad) served as an Army helicopter pilot in The British army after attending Bowie Senior High in 1967. Three family members have served in conflict zones includingIraq, Kosovo and Helmand province. So, not surprisingly 1% of the sales at The Crown will be given to Service charities.

In addition, veterans and serving members of the Armed Forces will receive a 10% food discount if they wear “civvies”, 15% discount in uniform.

Some people may remember Patton’s pub in Eastport, Jon, Lesley and family used to own this pub in the nineties, it was sold in 2001 to be developed into the excellent Boatyard Bar & Grill.

Lee Millross, Operations Manager for the company, who used to supervise Patton’s Pub In Eastport is looking for excellent staff at all levels. In the Patton’s Pub days he would send staff to the UK for a working vacation and to give employees a taste of the UK, all those that volunteered for a UK trip had a great time. So Crown & Anchor employment might suit those people with the travel bug! For information about joining the team, please contact Lee directly at [email protected].
