On May 8, 2012, at approximately 8:38 p.m., officers from the Southern district responded to the 400 block of Silver Run Road near Shore Drive in the community of Woodland Beach for a report of an unknown disturbance.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with a citizen who stated that there was a naked man on his front porch acting irrationally. Through their training, knowledge and experience, the officers believed the suspect was likely under the influence of PCP. The officers then used a tactical approach in an attempt to take the subject into protective custody in order to perform an emergency petition.
When approached by officers, the subject became very aggressive. He took a combative stance facing the officers and refused numerous orders to place his hands behind him and comply with their efforts to take him into custody. As officers attempted to physically restrain the suspect, he began to violently struggle and resist officers attempts to handcuff him. Officers then employed a Taser; however, it was largely ineffective in subduing him. He continued to violently combat the officer’s efforts until, after a protracted struggle; they were able to gain control.
The subject was transported by ambulance to Anne Arundel Medical Center. Upon discharge from the hospital, the suspect was charged with disorderly conduct, indecent exposure & resisting arrest.
