A loyal reader just sent us this update from Ego Alley in Annapolis:
We walked downtown Annapolis tonight to see the water in Ego Alley black and loaded with dead fish? We have never seen it so alarmingly polluted? Can we get someone to get the water tested? With commissioning week this week, this will not look good and most importantly this is our environment!
We have a call into the City to see what they know and will pass it along as soon as we hear!
that is so sad. I was kayaking on Harness Creek this weekend and thought how beautifully clear and clean the water looked. Hope the city finds out what is going on.
I noticed that the water looked pretty murky yesterday and there were not as many ducks around.
I was on our dock at the mouth of the Magothy on Saturday afternoon and saw over a dozen dead fish in a short time. Last night Ego Alley had lots of dead fish. It seems early for dead zones. What is causing the fish to die and what can we do to fix this?
There has not been any official response from the City, however several others have cited the Mahogany Tide (algae bloom) combined with a 17M gallon raw sewage leas in the Patapsco.
