3 Students Named National Merit Scholars

Three Anne Arundel County Public Schools seniors today were named National Merit Scholars by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

Chosen from a talented group of 15,000 students from across the country and among 56 from the state of Maryland, the students will receive single-payment scholarships worth $2,500 each to pursue post-secondary studies.
The following students earned the honor based on their excellent academic records, standardized test performances, school and community
leadership, essay submissions, and high school recommendations:
● Caroline Plott of Broadneck High School, who plans to study biomedical engineering.
● Moya Shpuntoff of Annapolis High School, who plans to study communications and design.
● Albert Protin of Arundel High School, who plans to study engineering.
The National Merit Scholarship Corporation will announce another 4,800 scholarship winners later this spring and this summer. In all, more than $35 million will be awarded to 8,300 outstanding high school seniors in this year’s competition.
