With a commanding performance by students of North County High School’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), county schools will be well represented at the National FBLA Conference in San Antonio, Texas, next month. Ten of the county’s 15 contestants hail from North County High School. They earned their places in the national conference by taking first- through third-place honors at the state level in 11 different categories (see below). Three students from Old Mill High School and two students from Chesapeake High School also earned rights to compete on the national level.

Taking this year’s FBLA theme, Gateway to Greatness, to heart, Maryland FBLA Chapter President Shirley Zhu of North County High School charged her peers to seize the momentum of last year’s record-breaking national performance by schools from across the state. For her exemplary leadership, Zhu will receive the organization’s top award at the national conference.
