Sex Offender Arrested At Glen Burnie Panera Bread

Several weeks ago we reported on an incident of a peeping tom in the Panera Bread located in Glen Burnie. This morning, Anne Arundel County Police released the following information on the arrest of a suspect.

On March 5, 2012, at approximately 4:13 p.m., officers from the Northern District responded to the Panera Bread located in the 6600 block of Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie for a report of a peeping tom.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with the 19-year-old female victim, who reported that she was using the women’s restroom stall when she saw a man’s hand reach under the partition with a cell phone in an attempt to videotape her. The victim alerted store management, who presented officers with a surveillance video recording of the suspect.

On March 27, 2012, at approximately 7:30 p.m., officers from the Northern District responded to the same Panera Bread for a report of a male in the women’s restroom. Officers spoke with a customer, who indicated that she was in the restroom outside of the stalls with her two small children when a male exited one of the stalls laughing. She alerted store management, who presented officers with a surveillance video recording of the suspect. It was determined to be the same suspect captured on video during the March 5, 2012 incident.

On April 3, 2012, at approximately 10:35 a.m., officers again responded to the Panera Bread because an employee recognized the aforementioned suspect attempting to enter the women’s restroom. Officers spoke with an employee, who reported that she was leaving the women’s restroom when she recognized the suspect attempting to enter the restroom. She yelled for a male co-worker and the suspect quickly fled the store. Employees followed the male to his vehicle and obtained the tag number. Through further investigation, detectives identified the suspect as a registered sex offender without a fixed address. A short time later, detectives located the suspect at a shopping center in Brooklyn Park, where he was taken into custody and charged with two counts of Peeping Tom and two counts of Private Place Prurient Intent.

Suspect: Michael Nicholas Villa, 50, of no fixed address. The suspect is a Registered Sex Offender.
