John Leopold Faces Possible Lawsuit.  The director of the Maryland Attorney General’s Office of Civil Rights will take a sabbatical from his position in order to pursue a lawsuit against Anne Arundel County and County Executive John Leopold. An attorney for Carl Snowden announced Snowden’s decision to take a sabbatical. Leopold was indicted last month on charges of misconduct in office relating to how he used his security detail, including allegations that he told police to keep dossiers on political enemies, including Snowden.

Thieves Steal From 20 Cars In Severna Park.  Thieves stole tools and electronics Friday from as many as 20 cars in Severna Park. Anne Arundel County police said the thieves stole the items from cars parked in the  Berrywood community. Police have since reminded residents to lock their cars and removing valuable items from plain view.

Lawsuit Against USNA For Rape Investigation. A New York lawsuit is asking a court to force the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and the U.S. Naval Academy to improve their response to rapes and sexual assaults. The lawsuit was filed Friday on behalf of two women who say they were raped at the training grounds for military leaders.

Annapolis Man Returns After Solo Sail Around Americas. A local sailor has returned to Annapolis after a 10-month solo sail around the Americas. Matt Rutherford’s homecoming Saturday concluded a sail of more than 25,000 miles as an effort to raise money for Chesapeake Region Accessible Boating, a sailing program for people with disabilities. “It can be very beautiful with the stars in the Atlantic and the Pacific, in the middle of nowhere. It’s unlike any other place in the world. It’s gorgeous,” Rutherford said. (See Eye On Annapolis photos here)
