AAMC Breaks Ground On Hackerman-Patz House

| April 22, 2012, 11:16 AM | 0 Comments

Anne Arundel Medical Center (AAMC) has broken ground on construction of the Hackerman-Patz House, a home-like lodging facility on the AAMC campus.  Meeting the needs of patients and their families traveling from far away to receive treatment, the building was made possible through the generosity of Willard Hackerman, president and CEO of Whiting Turner.  The Hackerman-Patz House is named after Mr. Hackerman and his wife, Lillian Patz Hackerman.  Opening is slated for early 2013.

“The Hackerman-Patz House will be a much-needed home away from home for many of our patients who travel from far and wide to undergo treatment at AAMC,” said Victoria Bayless, president and CEO, Anne Arundel Medical Center. “With the addition of this facility, patients can have their loved ones close by, which alleviates the stress associated with a long-term hospital stay.  It’s one more example of how AAMC is focused on patients and their families.”

Guests at the Hackerman-Patz House will range from parents of babies in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), those receiving oncology treatments, families with relatives in the Critical Care Unit or those undergoing surgery.

The Hackerman-Patz House is a 21,000 square-foot two-story building with 20 guest rooms, each with its own private bathroom.  There are three multi-purpose rooms, a kitchenette, washer/dryer and on-site parking.  It is being built on 1.4 acres and located on Jennifer Road across from the Hospital Pavilion.  Families will pay a modest fee for the accommodations.
