Maryland Approves Same Sex Marriage.  At the stroke of a pen Thursday afternoon, Maryland became the eighth state to legalize same sex marriage. Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley, Senate President Mike Miller and House Speaker Michael Busch signed the Civil Marriage Protection Act of 2012 during a signing ceremony on the first floor of the State House. The General Assembly passed the bill at the end of last month.

Woman Robbed Outside Anne Arundel School.  Police are investigating a bold robbery that occurred in broad daylight outside of a school in Anne Arundel County.11 News reporter Lowell Melser said a closer look reveals that the culprit was inside the building just moments before knocking his victim to the ground. The incident occurred just before 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Chesapeake Academy, a private school with students ranging from pre-school to fifth grade. The school is located in the 1100 block of Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard in Arnold.

14 Charged In Baltimore-Altoona Drug Network. Pennsylvania state prosecutors said Thursday they filed charges against 14 people in what they describe as a drug distribution network that purchased cocaine in Baltimore for resale in the Altoona area.Attorney General Linda Kelly said the group sold about five pounds of drugs a week, and accused Damion K. Floyd, 33, of being the principal figure in the organization.

RG Steel Suspends Operations Indefinitely.  Workers at a Sparrows Point tin mill are getting some bad news.RG Steel has confirmed that operations have been suspended indefinitely.The shutdown comes just weeks after it reactivated one of the blast furnaces and began to welcome back workers, who were furloughed just before Christmas.A representative for the steel company did not explain the reason for idling the plant.
