Prized Boxing Belt Stolen From Annapolis Home

On March 8, 2012, at approximately 2:05 p.m., officers from the Eastern District responded to a residence in the 100 block of South Winchester Road in Annapolis for a burglary.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with the homeowners, who reported that they arrived home and saw evidence that someone had gained access to the home while they were away. There was no indication of a forced entry into the home; however, numerous items were discovered missing. Specifically, a 24 karat gold middleweight championship boxing belt was taken from the home.

The belt, a family heirloom weighing approximately seven to nine pounds, is a British Empire “Lonsdale” belt named after Lord Lonsdale of Great Britain and has his picture in the middle. An older model faded red vehicle occupied by two males was observed in the area the day of the incident and is a vehicle of interest in this investigation, which is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Howeth of the Eastern District at 410-222-6145.
