On the Road Again At Rams Head Roadhouse

As a retired Annapolis couple, my husband and I love eating out and enjoying the wonderful variety of restaurants in this area.  Most of the time, we frequent one of our favorite spots for lunch, or we may try an establishment that has just opened or one that is new to us.  We always look for healthy options and moderate prices!

Today we were heading down Generals Highway to a specific destination, when my husband noticed the Rams Head Roadhouse and took an unexpected left into the parking lot.  I had mentioned this restaurant to him in the past, because it is a place where I occasionally lunch with former co-workers.  It was new to him.

It was not crowded around 12:30pm when we entered and were told by a friendly server to “sit anywhere.”   We noticed that there were several good choices on the menu.  From the list of specials of the day, we both picked the same item.  That happens a lot.  We both ordered the Skinny Minnie, a sandwich of thinly sliced turkey, pepper jack cheese, sliced avocado, lettuce and tomato on wheat toast.  It came with chipotle mayo, but we both substituted mustard.  Chips and a pickle were included.

The sandwiches were huge and delicious!  There was a very generous amount of turkey.  We each had half wrapped up to go, because it was really too much to eat.  Our iced teas were promptly refilled during the meal.

Evidently, Tuesday is a good day to come to the Roadhouse.  It’s ‘Ticket Tuesday’.  When our cheerful server brought the bill, she had free general admission tickets for us to see a show at the Rams Head Live! in Baltimore.  In addition, she asked if we would like to have frequent diner cards (not unusual for restaurants to do these days) that would provide a free lunch after purchasing six lunchtime meals (salad, sandwich, or entrees).

From our experience, the Roadhouse gives you more than you expect at a good value.  We will certainly return to have our cards stamped and to try other items we liked on the menu…probably on a Tuesday.
