Fire Chief, John Robert Ray has released a written statement via a Fire Department spokesman regarding the no-confidence vote taken by the unionized firefighters of Anne Arundel County.
I have proudly served the citizens of Anne Arundel County for more than 34 years and believe that my record of service stands for itself. It would be inappropriate for me to discuss specific labor-related issues as we are in the middle of the collective bargaining/labor negotiations process; however, I will continue to work closely with the members of the Firefighters Union to resolve any issues of contention. I will also continue to make certain that strategic decisions regarding the Fire Department are made with the best interest of our citizens in mind, as this agency is committed to delivering world class service to our customers.
Chief Ray was unavailable for further comment.
