Domestic Dispute Leads To Shooting In North Beach

On March 23, 2012, at approximately 2:03 a.m., officers from the Southern District were dispatched to the 600 block of Alabama Avenue in North Beach for a report of a domestic-related shooting.

While en route, officers learned that the 26-year-old female victim responded to a neighbor’s residence for assistance in the 7000 block of Charleston Avenue. Upon arrival at that residence, officers located the female victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the upper body. The investigation revealed that the victim and her boyfriend were arguing at a residence in the 600 block of Alabama Avenue when the suspect pulled out a gun and shot the victim.

The suspect then left the residence and went to a neighbor’s house for help. The victim also left the residence and was able to make her way to the residence on Charleston Avenue to get assistance. The suspect was located and arrested without incident. The victim was flown to Prince George’s Shock Trauma, where she is in serious, but stable condition at this time. Southern District Detectives are assisting with the incident. This investigation is still ongoing.

Suspect: Kenneth William Mitchell II, 34, of 627 Alabama Avenue, North Beach, Md. The suspect was charged with Attempted First Degree Murder, Attempted Second Degree Murder, First Degree Assault, Second Degree Assault, Reckless Endangerment and Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony.
