Second Concert To Benefit Artists 4 Amy Foundation – Sponsored By The Parole Rotary Foundation

Mark your calendars for the second concert in a series of three, to be held on Friday, March 9th at Wild Willy’s Rock House and Sports Saloon, 2072 Somerville Road, at Annapolis Towne Center. The concert will be held at 8pm. All proceeds from the event will benefit Artists 4 Amy and the Parole Rotary Foundation. The final concert will be held in early April.

The second concert in the series will feature Higher Hands, a veteran group of heavy hitters bringing the soul / funk revival to new audiences with a spontaneous energy clearly captured on the band’s debut recording “Grab Hold”. The band brings light to the darkest corners of the dance floor with its original fusion of funky rhythms, soulful songs and alternative hip-hop. The eclectic, high energy spirit of the band’s live show has allowed Higher Hands to rock the stage with a wide range of artists including: Cyril Neville, Soulive, The Roots, John Scofield, Maceo Parker, The New Mastersounds and Dirty Dozen Brass Band. The band is a regular fixture on the Mid-Atlantic club and Festival circuits performing at venues such as Rams Head Live in Baltimore, MD, House of Blues in Atlantic City, NJ, the DC BBQ Battle, the Pour House, NC and Music in the Garden Series, Carlisle, PA. Higher Hands was also selected for the “Sunset Sessions” artist showcase in Philadelphia, PA.

Tom Ryan, a member of the Parole Annapolis Rotary Club and concert coordinator, is excited to have this band on board. “The first concert was a huge success. We are looking forward to having the Higher Hands perform for the second concert. If you have never seen them, you won’t want to miss them! The Parole Annapolis Rotary Club is proud to collaborate with the Artists 4 Amy Foundation.  Artists 4 Amy and Rotary’s causes are very similar; to help those suffering that are in need.  By putting on this series of concerts we hope to provide fantastic live music to Annapolis while assisting a truly worthy organization.”

Caring for a sick child places tremendous emotional, physical and financial strain on a familyArtists 4 Amy Foundation assists families who are caring for these ill children with “real life” expenses that insurance does not cover. Expenses like household bill relief – mortgages, rent, utilities. The assistance also includes co-pays, auto repairs, prescriptions, babysitting and child care expenses, medical equipment, tolls, parking, and more. Tony and Silva Poore, founders of the organization, learned first hand that during a health crisis, everything goes up but your income. Often times parents end up losing their jobs because they had to choose between work and their child’s needs. “After losing our daughter, Amy, to cancer, we wanted to create a non-bureaucratic, no red tape and most importantly, a non-embarrassing way for people in need to obtain financial assistance. Unless you have been there or are in the inner circle of someone who is caring for a seriously or terminally ill child, you cannot appreciate the devastation that can be brought down on the family.  Hopefully we can help take a little of the load off”.

The concert will benefit both Artists 4 Amy and the Parole Rotary Foundation in keeping with the theme of helping sick kids, one family at a time. Tickets are $10 prior to March 1st, $15 at the door. Purchase tickets by visiting www.artists4amy.org or by calling Tom Ryan at 443-837-6178 or email at [email protected]. For more information about Higher Hands visit www.higherhandsmusic.com.
